Dannenbaum-Gottlob Engagement and Wedding

MANAGER GOTTLOB WILL SOON MARRY

 

J. J. Gottlob, senior member of the firm of Gottlob Brothers, managers of the Columbia Theater and present local managers of the Bernhardt engagement, is shortly to wed Miss Selina Dannenbaum, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Dannenbaum of 2219 California street and sister of Sam Dannenbaum, Selby Dannenbaum and Joseph Dannenbaum.

 

Miss Dannenbaum came to San Francisco with her parents about twelve years ago from Redbank, N.J. She is  graduate of Vassar College, a member of the Eureka Benevolent Society, the Jewish Ladies’ Aid Society, the Flower Mission and other charitable and philanthropic associations in this city.

 

The prospective groom was born in Washington, Mass. and came to San Francisco fifteen years ago. Since his arrival he has been managing theaters. First he controlled the old Bush-street Theater; next he managed the California Theater, but for some time he has been lessee of the Columbia. He is a member of the Concordia Club.

 

The engagement was announced at the Dannenbaum residence Sunday. The marriage will occur during Easter week. After a trip to Mexico the couple will return to this city and reside here permanently.

Theatrical Manager to Wed.

The engagement of Miss Selena Dannenbaum and J.J. Gottlob was announced yesterday. Miss Dannenbaum is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Dannenbaum. She is a petite and charming blonde and highly accomplished. No date for the wedding has yet been set, although it is probable that it will take place in the near future.

WILL BE MARRIED AT NOON T0-DAY

Nuptials of Miss Selina Dannenbaum and Manager Gottlob to Be Quietly Celebrated.

 

Today at noon Miss Selina Dannenbaum and Jacob J. Gottlob, manager of the Columbia Theater, will be married at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Dannenbaum, 2219 California street. Only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties will be present when Dr. Voorsanger pronounces the happy couple husband and wife. Neither bride nor groom will have any attendants. 

 

The bride will wear dainty gown of pale lavender brocaded crepe, trimmed with lace and chiffon. A little toque to match the gown will complete the costume.

 

Immediately after the ceremony the newly wedded couple will leave for a bridal trip to Southern California.

SOCIAL EVENTS

 

J. J. Gottlob, senor manager of the Columbia Theater, and Miss Selina Dannenbaum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Dannenbaum, were married at noon yesterday at the residence of the bride’s parents, 2219 California street. Rev. Jacob Voorsanger officiated and Joseph Gottlob, brother of the groom, was best man. Miss Dannenbaum was unattended. She wore a becoming gown of lavender crepe trimmed with white lace. 

 

The ceremony was witnessed by immediate relatives and a few friends who, after congratulations, sat down to an elaborate breakfast. Later Mr. and Mrs. Gottlob left for Monterey. They expect to return Saturday, and then leave in a few days for the East, to be gone several weeks.

 

The groom’s present to the bride was a necklace of diamonds and pearls. The theatrical managers sent a silver service of twenty-four pieces and a set of crystal.
