David Pokorny Levy, Ensign

In the spring of 1941, David Levy was appointed by Hale Boggs to the United States Naval Academy as Midshipman 4/C, class of 1945 which was scheduled to graduate in June of 1944, the course having been shortened to 3 years because of the war. In June 1941, as seaman 2/C USNR 1st Division, he was assigned to the USS Meade DD274, a WWI destroyer. Graduating from USNA on his 21st birthday, June 7, 1944, Levy was assigned to the U.S.S. Miami (C.I.89). While serving his country, David Levy received 2 purple hearts.
