Morris Meyerfeld and his family made frequent trips to Europe, sometimes staying for 6 months or more, and their travels were frequently covered in the San Francisco papers. For Morris, they were always a mix of business and pleasure.

MEYERFELD RETURNS FROM EUROPEAN TRIP
Sees Vaudeville in Russia and Sweden—Opened Office of Orpheum in London.
Morris Meyerfeld Jr., president of the Orpheum Circuit, returned yesterday from a foreign trip. In the course of which he visited Russia, Finland and Sweden.
“I left the beaten paths,” Meyerfeld said last night, “that I might see what acts were being shown in vaudeville where we have no representatives. In Russia, the majority of the attractions are French and the principal departures from the ordinary French bill were the native dancers and in particular musical instruments.
“Incidentally, I hear a good deal of talk about our Panama-Pacific Exposition,” Meyerfeld continued. “In Germany they are particularly enthusiastic for San Francisco, and largely so from the admiration that is so general for the wonderful manner in which this city has been rebuilt since the fire. At Brussels I talked with many exhibitors who told me that they want to bring their exhibits here. Every American and every Californian abroad is asked about San Francisco and the proposed exposition.”
Meyerfeld said that while he was in London he established an Orpheum office there, following the acquisition of forty houses. Of the situation on the Coast he said that there was no notable change, and added:
“Appearances speak for themselves. There is absolutely no chance for any one to break in here, for we have secured all the big European acts for the next to or three years.”
