From James E Strouf - Genealogical Record of the Descendants of Jan Strouf - First Edition - March 23, 1987

Wencel grew up o the original Strouf farm in Section 10 & 11 of Kossuth Township. In 1870, he took over the ownership of it from his father. The farm was plagued by mortgages. In 1876, the size of it dropped from 80 to 75 acres. In 1877, the taxes went unpaid. Finally, 3 Sept 1878. Wencel sold the 75 acre farm to Emmanuel and Mary First for $777. In 1879, Wencel and family moved to the Crete New England area. There, eight years later, Wencel died from tuberculosis.
