Wencel Petska Obituary

Wencel (Jim) Petska, 82, of Maribel, died Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital,Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville.  Msgr. Alfred Schneider will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery at Greenstreet.  Military graveside services will be accorded Mr. Petska by Drews-Bleser American Legion Post No. 88 of Manitowoc.

Mr. Petska was born Sept. 7, 1893 in Cooperstown, son of the late Thomas and Anna Kafka Petska.  He married Anna Frelich June, 1930, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville.  After their marriage, they resided in Maribel.  He was a carpenter by trade and was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc.  He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 849 and the American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88.  Western Fraternal Life Assn. (ZCBJ) Lodge No. 114 of Rosecrans, Veteran of World War I, serving from May, 1918, to March, 1919, and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Vivian) Petrie, of Fort Atkinson,Wis., a brother, Joseph T. Petska, of Milwaukee, a sister, Mrs. Emil (Helen) Schultz, of Manitowoc and two grandsons, Charles and Robert Petrie.  Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, after 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until the time of services.  Wake service will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday by Msgr. Schneider and at 8:30 p.m. Holy Name Society will receive the Rosary.
